I am really upset to see one of my dear friends has deactivated his account. He was so upset yesterday about his work being stolen that perhaps he felt that there was no other way to prevent this from happening than this.
He thought by blocking people he was suspicious of ( the ones who watch us/ fav our work and have nothing in their galleries) that this would prevent them from stealing. I told him actually all blocking does is block them from communicating with you but if they want to steal they still can.
I think this needs to be changed but clearly there is no way this can happen. If our galleries were only viewable by deviant members, anyone can make an account,we all know joining deviant is not that complicated. If blocking people would also prevent them from seeing our galleries all they would need to do is sign out and make a new account. Depending on how determined they are to grab our work.
There is no solution for Art Theft. It pisses me off too believe me but the copyrite law states as long as a person is not earning money on the art they take there is little you can do.
We see so many complaining in their journals about Art Theft almost on a daily basis. Many of us will immediately go to the link supplied and look through pages and pages of stolen art trying to find ours. Once we do we then have to find a way to contact the owner of the site or the domain owner and report it. This is pretty hard most times because of language barriers. Even with Google Translator we will find ourselves limited.
But sometimes one is lucky enough to find that way of contact and put in the complaint.
Then you wait. And wait and if you are lucky its gets removed.
Only to find another web site harboring more stolen art again and again. IT WILL NEVER STOP!
So you have to ask yourself what choices do I have? Do I deactivate my account? or Do I ignore art theft since its nearly impossible to find it all?
Well to keep my sanity I choose to ignore it for now. Who knows some day I too may deactivate my account as well.

There is indeed not much you can do about art theft! It is sad that people have to steal art in order to feel good about themselves. Even if you have your copyright mark on it, they'll still steal it and remove the mark on it. I sure hope you don't leave. You are a very valuable member here as many others who are here. You are loved by many here, so maybe that makes up for the art stealing???
